What is a Celebrant, anyway?

‘What exactly is a Celebrant?’ must be one of the most frequently-asked questions I get.

Well, using the services of a professional celebrant means that your ceremony – whether for a wedding, a vow renewal, a baby naming or a funeral –  will be 100% professional from beginning to end.

You’ll be in contact with me beforehand, so that you can talk through exactly what you want and ensure everything is how you expect it to be.   A professional Celebrant is fully trained, presentable, polite, on time, and a good, clear speaker (I am a member of Toastmasters for example).   I am fully insured, and for your added peace of mind, I always have a back-up Celebrant to step in (should the unthinkable happen and I am knocked over by a bus!)

I will conduct the ceremony that I have written for you and that you have agreed.  You can write the content, or I can suggest content to you.  You can have as much or as little religious content as you wish. My aim is that you have a truly wonderful ceremony.  It is my privilege to be part of your day.
