Give in Celebration – the heartfelt alternative to the Wedding Gift List

Fact:  More than three-quarters of us live together before we marry.   Which probably means couples already have the toaster, the dinner-service, the sheets and pillowcases.   So what do those about to tie the knot do about The Gift List?

There is a rise in couples asking guests for donations towards their honeymoon in lieu of wedding gifts.   I don’t know about you, but it leaves me uneasy – just how much is considered a reasonable amount to give?   Is it more when you are a guest for the whole day than the evening?  How do you know how much to give?

Some couples are opting to give to charity in lieu of gifts.   Today, I got some bumf from British Heart Foundation with all sorts of lovely things to add to your wedding day – place cards (that tell guests a donation has been made to charity), little forms that guests can complete to pledge their support, Heart Pins which would make terrific favours, and of course raise awareness and funds at the same time.     I have my eye on the sparkly pin for the #Celebrant lapel :)
