My Love is like a Red Red Rose
Today, I led the funeral ceremony and graveside burial for a well-loved long-time Banbury resident. This gentleman bought his wife a red rose for their first wedding anniversary, and 2 red roses for their second wedding anniversary, 3 for the 3rd and so on. Isn’t that romantic? He did this every year, until their ruby wedding anniversary (40 years later) – by then it was getting very expensive, buying red roses in January.
Today, this gentleman’s lovely wife had arranged for the most magnificent display of perfect red roses on his coffin – they were truly breathtaking.
“My Love Is Like A Red Red Rose”
Oh, my love is like a red, red rose
That’s newly sprung in June
Oh, my love is like a melody
That’s sweetly played in tune
As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in love am I
And I will love thee still, my dear,
Till all the seas gang dry.
Till all the seas gang dry, my dear,
Till all the seas gang dry
And I will love thee still, my dear,
Till all the seas gang dry.
